I’m officially hooked on Paradise Kiss!!! XD I’ve been reading it all day but now its time for me to get some sleep, I have no idea why I love reading manga about Modeling or Photography so much but it really excites me LOL~
I can’t wait till Fall Term so I can finally start learning about Photoshop and develop my own style of Editing and Retouching.
I’m not trying to become a Photographer but after seeing all these crappy edited photos from people’s Facebook Photography Pages, I know I can at least do better than them and make mine look more Professional.
I hate it when I tell someone I love Photography and their automatic response is “You should take my pictures!!”
Not everyone who is into photography wants to do Portrait photos and they also don’t want to waste their time and equipment on giving free photoshoots to unappreciative people who just want to take advantage of them.
The response I would like to hear is “WHAT KIND of photography am I/are you interested in?” since there are SO many different kinds.
I think I’m gonna talk about this in more detail in a blog post instead of on here where random people will find it.
After posting on my Blog about majoring in Graphic Design and the Photography equipment I’m planning to buy, I’ve noticed a lot of people excited for me just because they want me to Shoot them.
1. I’m NOT trying to become a Photographer, I’ve already said that I’m simply an ENTHUSIAST.
2. I’m trying to become a Photo Retoucher, so IDK why people think I’m gonna be taking pictures of people. Unless they want me to do some retouching for them, then I can’t help them.
3. I know I’m new to Photography but I hope these people don’t expect me to work for them for FREE. If I need practice I’ll use my Friends who live close to me, I’m not gonna waste my time and money traveling just to shoot someone who wants new Facebook pictures.
4. Most of the Photography stuff I’m buying is for Graphic Design, YouTube and my Blog. I never said I was gonna be doing “photoshoots”
I guess some people are gonna think I’m being mean but if you want your photos taken so bad, find an actual photographer in your area to do a shoot with you and if you want them to do it for free good luck.
The main reason I don’t feel like freelance modeling anymore is because I keep having to deal with unprofessional photographers.
I live in a crappy area so I can understand that there aren’t that many good photographers where I live since most have the sense enough to move to a better location for their job.
And there are some good aspiring photographers in my area as well, but what I’m talking about isn’t their work but how they ACT & TREAT me because I’m not an experienced model and they just want to get some new photos for their portfolio or practice out of me.
I’ve had photographers stop contacting me after saying we were gonna do a shoot together and some be very rude because I told them I couldn’t travel HOURS away when I barley have any money and they just treated me like I was wasting their time talking to them when THEY were the ones contacting ME.
One photographer even said it was “my loss” if I wouldn’t travel to meet him getting an attitude with me because he didn’t understand why I couldn’t drive 11 hours away to meet him for ONE day. His work wasn’t even that good or worth it either.
So that’s why I haven’t been wanting to model these past few months, I don’t think I even want to become a model anymore if I’m gonna be treated like I’m easily replaceable by everyone and not like a lady/person.
I’m busy with College right now anyway so I think getting my education is a good enough excuse to tell someone I can’t work with them atm.
When I’m more free maybe I’ll try it again and be more assertive with what specifications a photographer needs if they want to shoot with me because I’m trying to set up a good portfolio too and need a certain image and style if I want to become an Alternative model.
I’m not gonna be treated like I’m not important just because I’m not very skilled yet or popular like the more experienced models.
Everyone has to start out somewhere and since I’m majoring in Graphic Design I’m hoping that one of my classmates will have the style I’m looking for with the image I want so we can start a collaboration or something together while we learn together ;D
That way I’ll get all the practice I need with out feeling like I’m not good enough or like I’m being pressured etc.
Once I feel more confident and comfortable in front of the camera I’d like to see how photographers treat or react to me then, I know not all of them are rude but I’m tired of meeting the ones like that.
So my dad just borrowed my point ‘n shoot camera to take photos of some stuff he’s trying to sell on Ebay and guess what? After using it for only a few minutes he said it was a piece of CRAP just like I’ve been telling him and my mom for years now after they bought it as a gift for me. Now no one can tell me I’m just being spoiled because they’ve seen how useless it is!
They keep buying cheap stuff and then wonder why it always ends up being so crappy, then act like I’m crazy for saving up for something thats exspensive when it’s gonna be actual GOOD Quality and last a long time.
Sometime this Summer I’m getting a DSLR and I don’t want anyone messing with it since I’m “crazy” for wanting nice things, if anyone asks me if they can “borrow my camera” after I get it they’re getting the crappy one because I know they’d either end up breaking the DSLR or stealing it for themself.
People don’t ever bother to ask what TYPE of Model you are, all they know is that they want to use you for their Photography or whatever because they know you’d get them some publicity.
But if you want to be a successful model you have to PICK which type you’re gonna professionalize in and STICK with it so other people in that field will start to notice & hire you.
Nobody sees me as an “Alternative” model since I don’t have the money for Body Modifications or the style of clothes that I want yet but that’s the type of modeling I’d like to professionalize in.
I know I have a baby face & look like a little kid since I’m not curvy, but I’m not gonna specialize in something just because it fits from how people judge my appearance.
I may not look alternative on the outside (yet) but I’ve always been it on the inside =P
People who own a Mac Laptop, would you say that it was worth the money? Are you happy with the decision you made & what do you like about it? Anything bad about it I should know?
And mainly is it good for Photoshop & Adobe Elements etc because that’s the main thing I’ll need it for, thank you & just send the answers to my Ask or Message Box =]
“Dig out the paints and get your creative energy flowing, Virgo. Keep in mind that you might not have the discipline or commitment to finish any project you start today, but you most certainly won’t lack creative energy. Merge your mental and emotional processes and have them work together on a blank canvas. Bring beauty to the world by letting yourself shine for others to see.”
When I read this my 1st thought was that it means I’m gonna get back into the groove of blogging since my design will probably be done soon if the coding stops messing up, LOL.
But other than that the only thing creative I do or like besides blogging is Photography, so maybe I’ll take my crappy camera with me tomorrow and take random pictures. Oh and Retouching is another creative thing I like so maybe that would be better ^__^
I feel flattered when professional photographers see me on Instagram & say they’d like to work with me, too bad they’re always MILES away
I would love to Cosplay but have zero skills with sewing and all that other stuff I couldn’t do in home economics.
I would have to buy one online and they’re too expensive for me + I’m not gonna invest in something I’m not that passionate about. I’d rather buy photography equipment etc.
Maybe someone will want to hire me to model the cosplay costumes they make or something like that, LOL. As long as its nothing skimpy I’d be excited, especially if it was one of the characters I actually want to cosplay as.
